An estimated 100 litres of diesel spilled on pavement in the shopping centre's delivery area when the tank of a truck was punctured upon entering the driveway.
It appears a grate in the driveway bent upwards as the truck drove over it, causing damage to the underside of the vehicle.
It is believed the spill is not the result of driver error.
Firefighters and environmental protection officers were called to the scene to oversee the clean up, with crews currently working on the site to soak up the excess diesel.
Firefighters and Armidale Dumaresq Council workers will return to the site later in the day to ensure the complete the clean up.
Crews estimate the loading zone will be reopened by about 12pm on Friday.
