A CHANGE of captaincy brought a change in luck for Ex-Services on Saturday, but the new skipper believes whoever was leading the side had no bearing on the side picking up its first win of the season.

Will Green took over the captaincy from Brad Widders and it seemed to have a positive effect on both players.
Green hit 75 not out for Servies while Widders picked up his first five wicket haul of the season on their 21-run win over City at the Armidale Sportsground.
Green was reluctant to take the captaincy, but it seems to be a move that may pay huge dividends for Servies.
“It (the captaincy) was affecting his performances,” Green said of Widders.
“He’s back to being himself now and playing really well for us.”
Servies won the toss and batted first as Green led the way at the top of the order, carrying his bat through the entire 43 overs of the innings.
Bob Kelly (29) was the only player to provide significant support as Servies built a total of 6-183.
“We had to really grind it out,” Green said.
“City are a great side.
“The goal all season has been to bat the overs out and see what happens from there.
“We had a stutter at the start, but we were able to build little partnerships after that.”
Widders (5-30) and new ball partner Matt Hudson (4-43) tore through the City line-up in Servies’ run defence.
Only Hugh Reckford (51) provided any real resistance as City were bundled out for 162 in 39 overs.
“Brad bowled exceptionally,” Green said.
“He’s back to being the Brad Widders I know.
“Matt bowled really well too.
“He’s our only genuine quick at the moment.”
Green said his players were ecstatic after their first win of the season.
“We were all pretty happy,” he said.
“Everything fell in place for us.
“We fielded anf bowled well.
“The goal from now on is to be just consistent every week and go from there.”
