Fifty per cent of the proceeds of the day go to the White Ribbon Foundation, Australia’s only male led campaign to end violence against women. “We usually get a very good crowd for this day,” Armidale Jockey Club secretary Jim Dedes said.
“It’s a real family day out.”
The crowd will be treated to a quality day of racing with strong fields in the majority of races.
“The fields turned out pretty good,” Dedes said.
“The first two races are a little light on, but besides that I’m very happy.
“It’s shaping up to be a great day.”
A lack of rain has left the track dry for the past couple of meetings, but Dedes said it is starting to improve.
“It is still a bit dry, but it’s starting to get a good bit of grass cover.”
The first race is at 1.15pm.
