The attack happened just before 11pm on Friday, January 17.
A 55-year-old woman was approached by a man while she was standing near her car on Hunter Street.
The man threatened her with a knife before sexually assaulting her.
Police have been told the man then stole items from her handbag before fleeing the scene.
