Schools and community groups across the New England will don the denim for the annual Jeans for Genes Day fundraiser.
Rocky River Primary School has made the campaign a yearly event and today students are making a gold coin donation for the treat of wearing their favourite jeans.
School principal Jo Thornton said it was important for the pupils to be involved with the fundraiser and be part of the community.
“The students learn that they all have to contribute to the community and get involved,” she said.
“It helps them appreciate what they’ve got.”
The school is also selling Jeans for Genes Day merchandise and hopes to eclipse last year’s fundraising total.
