The Mark Gwynne-coached side were soundly beaten by South on Saturday, but have the opportunity to get their season on track against a Guyra side low on confidence.
Guyra were thrashed 5-nil by Joeys FC United at home last weekend.
With the opening round of the competition washed out and their loss last weekend, East are winless, and will be desperate to pick up their first win on Saturday.
After missing the finals last year, East signed Gwynne to take over the reigns as coach in 2014, who brought a number of juniors to the club with him in hopes of pushing for a semi-final spot.
East club president Christian Gerard said they certainly won’t be expecting an easy win on Saturday.
“We don’t know a lot about them, but I know they lost pretty heavily on the weekend,” he said.
“But Guyra are always strong and we can’t take them lightly.”
Gerard said results in both first and reserve grades were substandard.
“We were disappointing in both grades,” he said.
“We definitely have a lot of things to work on.
“The players have gone pretty hard at training this week, so hopefully that will bear dividends.”
Team structure was the first thing that had to be addressed Gerard said.
“Structure and fitness will be things that we will be working on,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of new players come over this year, so we’re lacking a bit of team cohesion.
“But that will come as the year progresses.”
After drawing with Demon Knights last weekend, North Armidale United FC are also in search of their first win.
It won’t come easy this weekend as they face South, who will be buoyed following their heavy win over East.
That match will be played at the Armidale Sportsground.
Demon Knights have the bye.
