It all kicks off this evening at Civic Park with lots of rides, attractions and markets stalls.
The laser show was a new installation last year, and will again be a feature tonight.
Council’s events coordinator Stephanie Kentish said many people were unaware of what the show was last year, so she expected a lot more people would turn out at 8pm for the spectacle.
Tomorrow will be a busy day with events starting at 7am and running until the fireworks display at 8.30pm.
The highlight will again be the street parade, with about 66 floats ready to create a cavalcade through the central business district. Ms Kentish said there is so much on offer people wouldn’t struggle to find something to do.
“There is a lot going on, especially [this] evening with live music from our very own Julia Booth and the laser light show,” she said.
“There is going to be a fantastic live atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.” Ms Kentish said autumn was the best season in Armidale because it was when the city really comes to life.
“It is the most beautiful time of year, with beautiful colours and glorious weather. It is the perfect time to celebrate the city.”
