In his first day in the position, Mr Inglis said his immediate priority was to keep the day-to-day running of Council going by meeting with staff in the coming days.
He said he was also looking forward to attending tonight’s Council meeting.
“First up I would like to hear from the councillors and the staffs about what the issues are… and we will do that over the course of today and tomorrow,” Mr Inglis said.
“Over and above that, of course, is the job of the general manager, just to keep the day-to-day business going, and that is an important matter for staff as well.”
Mr Inglis has confirmed he would not be applying for the job as general manager, but would be assisting Council with the process.
“As a general rule, recruitment from the day you decide you are going to start it, it is about a 13-week process,” he said.
Mayor Laurie Bishop hoped Mr Inglis would bring stability to the Council until a new general manager was found.
“Having Glenn act in that role, as transition, is absolutely fantastic given his wealth of experience and a lot of history of working in acting roles and general manager roles,” Cr Bishop said.
“We are very lucky to have him to accept the role in Armidale.”
Mr Inglis expected he would be in the role for about 6-months.
