She became the first baby born in New England in 2014 when mum Rebecca Adams gave birth at Armidale hospital at 1.02am on Wednesday.
The 6lb, 9oz [3.1kg] bundle of joy is the first for Rebecca and partner David Harvey and the first grandchild for Kerry and Kylie Adams of Dubbo, and Gerald Erikson and Glenda Harvey of Bathurst.
She also has a great grandmother in Armidale – Eileen McRae – and others in New Zealand and Corowa.
Addison was due on December 27 but mum was glad she was five days late rather than two days early.
“It will be a big party,” Rebecca said. “We thought she’d be early but I was hoping she wouldn’t come on Christmas day. She’ll be lucky with sport because she’ll always be the youngest.”
The couple met at St Albert’s College.
Rebecca is entering her last year of primary teaching studies while David works full time but is also studying law at the University of New England. They now live in Armidale permanently and said it will be a nice place to raise their little family, although their quiet existence will change upon Addison’s arrival.
Fortunately she is a quiet baby.
“She only cried when they took her temperature, not when she was born or when they gave her needles,” Rebecca said. “We’ve got crying babies all around us and she hasn’t made a sound.”
