A study just published has found of 150 electorates, New England has the 37th highest prevalence of macular degeneration. This means Dr Morgan treats about 70 to 80 patients with macular degeneration every week.
“Their ability to recognise faces is diminished, they might have black patches or they might have some distortion and they're all indicators of central vision loss,” Dr Morgan, pictured with receptionist Leanne Simmons, said. He recommended anyone over the age of 50 to have their eyes examined since one in seven people over 50 show signs of the disease.
