In the lead up to the finals an unmarked round of 24 targets on Saturday and a further 24 marked targets on the Sunday saw some tough competition.
The top eight in each division then shot off for places in the semi finals.
A team's event was also held to create more atmosphere.
In the team's gold medal match Armidale's Jeff and Ella-rose Carson and Michael Fisher competed against Pat Coghlan, Nicky Fairweather and Carmelo Aslanidis and going into the last target both teams were on equal points.
It all came down to the last arrow where Nicky Fairweather shot a perfect six giving them a one point win.
A very exciting start to a great day.
The individual matches saw Jeff Carson in the compound division knocked out in the quarter final by Damien Sinclair from Geelong Archers who went on to finish fourth where he lost to Justin Olexienko from Queensland in the bronze medal match.

The gold medal match saw another tough match between the top two ranked archers.
Pat Coghlan from SA and Matt McDougall from QLD went into the final target equal.
Pat shot a perfect 18 with his three arrows and Matt under extreme pressure shot 6, 6, 4 giving Pat the gold and Matt the silver medals.
Armidale's other competitor Ella-rose Carson contested the recurve division gold medal match against Imogen Grzemski from Victoria.
Another close match both girls being on 41 at the last target.
With all eyes on them this was a real test for nerves.
Ella-rose fought well with her first two arrows being sixes followed by a three giving her 15 for the target and the gold medal with Imogen shooting three fours, thus taking the silver medal.
An associate member of Armidale Archers Yeji Kim also won bronze defeating Laura Trezise by one point in their match.
