The bright young minds from nine department, independent and Catholic primary and secondary schools will explore Causation - the relationship between cause and effect - in every challenge.
Each challenge falls within the subject areas of Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy - that part of history that honours significant people inventions and events from the past to the present.

"The way that one action, thought or decision can influence another is something both philosophical and scientific, so as this year's area of focus there should be something about causation that every student, whatever their specific interests and strengths, should find of interest," TAS organiser Mrs Donella Tutt said.
"I guess it could also be said that causation will be just as important in how the students approach and succeed in each challenge, as the challenge itself."
After a hiatus in 2020 caused by the pandemic and a smaller event last year, The Armidale School is looking forward to welcoming back students from as far as Dubbo and Coffs Harbour.
"As in past years, two former Knox students will be running the Decathlon and TAS is pleased to once again host this academic extension event for students from across the region, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so," Mrs Tutt said.
Years 7 and 8 will take part on Monday; Years 5 and 6 on Tuesday, and the Decathlon culminates on Wednesday with the Year 9 and 10 competitions.
