POLICE say a woman has died in John Hunter Hospital nine days after she was hit by a vehicle in the New England region.

Around 7am Monday, March 14, emergency services were called to the intersection of Maitland Road and King Street, Uralla, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Officers from New England Police District believe a van and an SUV had collided at the intersection, before one of the vehicles struck the woman who was crossing the road at the time.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 54-year-old woman at the scene for severe head injuries before she was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The van driver, aged 39, and the SUV driver, aged 42, were both taken to Armidale Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police say they have been told the woman died in hospital about 4pm Wednesday, March 23.
