While the customary regattas at Grafton and Taree did not take place during the summer holidays due to COVID, flooding in Sydney has forced Rowing NSW to postpone, split and relocate NSW Schoolgirl and Schoolboy events from the Sydney International Regatta Centre to the Parramatta River.
At the Junior Girls Head of the River last Saturday, both TAS Year 9 quads (two oars per rower) finished in the top three placings in their heats, qualifying for the finals. The Firsts had a fine race to place sixth in the 1000m Division 1 final in 4:16:72mins, while the Seconds came second in their heat before crossing the line in fifth in the Division 4 final in 4:25:56mins.

TAS Rowing captains Zara Sherwood and Alexander Zuber said the junior girls' personal best times have spurned on the seniors, who will launch their boats on the same course at the Senior Schoolboys and Schoolgirls Head of the River this Saturday.
"It has probably been the most unpredictable season ever for rowing at TAS but despite the interruptions to our training and racing schedules, the squad has had persistently demonstrated effort and a positive attitude throughout the entire season," they said.
"With 32 new rowers joining the rowing program, including the new addition of junior rowers, this is the largest number of rowers TAS has ever seen, and we feel confident that the senior girls and boys crews can truly show what they are made of this weekend."
Senior boys will take to the water in fours (single oars) events, senior girls will race two quads and a senior double scull (two oars), with a Year 10 double scull also squaring up for competition.
