Thousands gathered in Central Park to sing traditional carols along with the New England Singers and the Armidale City Band.
Santa arrived after dark, escorted by the local SES crews while his reindeer rested ahead of the big day.
The Lions say it is a traditional event, and the club will continue to stage it every year to spread the Christmas cheer.
They said the carols are put on as a tribute to thank the local people who support their other projects through the year, as a 'sort of reward' for them.
The entire two hours of entertainment started at 6.30pm and went through to 9.30pm.
Both accomplished singers and young stars got up on stage to perform traditional and modern Christmas tunes for the crowd.
