GoFundMe Australia regional manager Nicola Britton said during crisis, such as the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy, they deploy dedicated teams who work to rapidly vet campaigns and monitor the events as they unfold.

"We work directly with the fundraiser to reach the beneficiary to deposit the money to them directly, removing the middleman and adding an extra layer of efficiency and safety.
"In the rare case of misuse, donors are backed by the GoFundMe guarantee.
"Meaning that donations will be refunded if they don't end up in the right place."
