TAMWORTH MP Kevin Anderson has been awarded the water portfolio in a NSW government cabinet reshuffle, while New England MP Adam Marshall has been sensationally dropped from the frontbench.

Mr Anderson has claimed the role of Minister for Lands and Water off Oxley MP Melinda Pavey, who had held the position since 2019. The appointment is good news for the Dungowan Dam, with Mr Anderson a strong supporter of the at-times contentious project.
His responsibilities don't end there either, as he will also assume the role of Minister for Hospitality and Racing.
One of the bigger surprises on Monday morning was the dumping of Adam Marshall as Agriculture Minister and Minister for Western NSW.
Mr Marshall had been widely regarded as a rising star in political circles and was held in good esteem by many in the agriculture sector.
There were even some who had expected him to make a run for the deputy leadership of the NSW Nationals after John Barilaro's resignation in October.
