To see our region and the smaller outlying towns and villages unite moving forward, under the strong leadership of a functional council to reap the benefits of economic growth, tourism including Indigenous based tourism, investment, new business, growth of existing business, creating jobs for our youth and enticing those in the midst of city migration to regional and rural areas to choose our Region.
2 What do you think is the single most important issue facing the Armidale area?
Economic recovery from the drought. The region's economy has contracted in the last two years due to the impact of drought conditions on agriculture production value. With agriculture dominating local business 31 per cent, the effects have been widespread across the region.
3 What projects/developments do you intend to advocate for if elected as a councillor?
The Term if elected will be a short one of just under three years. In that time we will be working hard to clear the backlog of infrastructure and complete existing projects, before we can start to develop new ones. There are big Infrastructure projects still sitting on the side lines. In the future both water treatment plants in Guyra and Armidale will need to be upgraded before the next drought.
The DA for the Guyra Preschool and Early Childhood Centre has been approved. It must not sit on the shelf, applying for Funding or Private Investment is required to complete this vital infrastructure for the Guyra Community. It is a project I have been following passionately and will pursue to see it completed.
4 What expertise or attributes do you have which would help you in undertaking the role of Councillor?
Since moving to Armidale in 2017 I developed an affinity with the community advocating for and having the necessary discussions to make a positive impact for everyone regardless of what area of Armidale they live or where in our region they reside via the Armidale Crime Prevention and Neighbourhood Watch Community Group.
I am dedicated, passionate, committed, honest and hardworking. I am committed to working hard alongside other elected representatives to drive our region forward.
