Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall confirmed Drummond Memorial Public School in Armidale, as well as Inverell High School had been closed for deep cleaning on Monday.

The same confirmed COVID case attended both sites, according to Mr Marshall.

All staff and students across the two school communities have been asked to self isolate while contact tracing and cleaning takes place, but it is understood no testing requirements have been announced by health authorities at this time.

It is expected the schools will remain non-operational for several days this week and principals will provide updates.

There is one active case in the Inverell area and nine active cases in Armidale, according to Mr Marshall.

Hunter New England Health (HNEH) confirmed 30 new cases of the virus were reported across the district in the Monday update, including one in Tamworth, located in Calala.

There were no new infections found across the New England North West.

Three Tamworth schools and a long day care service were closed last week, after they were visited by COVID positive people.

Two of the schools - Tamworth Public School and Peel High School - have since reopened.

South Tamworth Public School will remain closed on Monday after another member of that school's community tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

Birrelee MACS is expected to remain closed this week.

HNEH COVID-19 vaccine clinics are now offering a booster dose of the Pfizer to anyone aged 18 and older who have waited at least six months since their second dose of any COVID-19 vaccine brands available in Australia.

That means Tamworth region residents vaccinated before May can now access a booster shot.

Eligible people can receive a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at HNEH hubs, their GP and from participating community pharmacies.

A booster vaccination can be booked through the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder online.

For the purposes of complying with public health orders, people who have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine are still considered fully vaccinated, but the booster dose is important for strengthening protection against the virus, HNEH said.

NSW Health state-run clinics are already providing a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to people aged 12 and older who are severely immunocompromised.

The HNEH district recorded another fall in daily COVID-19 cases to 30, the lowest tally in 41 days.

NSW recorded 135 new cases of COVID-19 to 8pm on Sunday and four further deaths.

Free travel between Greater Sydney and the regions opened on Monday.
