It has taken the total number of cases in the city to five.
Four members of an Armidale family had already tested positive to COVID-19, as testing was ramped up in the city this week.
The first two cases, which were revealed earlier this week, were from the same family and household, and had been linked to a known active case in Tamworth.
Tamworth recorded six new infections in Friday's update from NSW Health, a welcomed drop after eleven cases were recorded yesterday.

Across the Hunter New England district 54 cases were recorded. Thirty six of these were infectious while in the community while six are still under investigation.
Seventeen of these cases are currently being cared for in hospital and four are in intensive care.
State wide numbers remain below 300 with 268 and cases and two deaths recorded. 93.4 per cent of NSW residents have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine and 86.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.
There were 82,840 test conducted in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.
