He is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be from Tasmania.
Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene before specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit attended and took carriage of the investigation.
As inquiries continue, investigators would like to speak with the driver of a four-wheel drive utility that had a dog on the tray travelling along Cells River Road around the time of the incident.
It is believed the driver may be able to assist police with ongoing inquiries.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the motorcycle or utility - or who may have dashcam footage from the area - to contact Crime Stoppers.
