Always looking to be innovative, the Dubbo club attracted headlines earlier this year when it introduced a new event, the Brother Fox. Not only did the series attract some of the best sprinters in the State, it was also able to garner exceptional exposure and promotion for the club and industry.
Now work is underway at the Central West venue to upgrade the track and facilities.
Among the upgrades are a new lure motor, an improved track drainage system and a new tower for race day officials and broadcasters. In all, just under $500,000 will be invested in the track and the facilities.
"The work is progressing really well, and everyone is excited about the improvements that are being made," Dubbo president Shayne Stiff said.
"The framework is in place for the new tower and we expect that towards the end of the year we will take a few weeks off racing and knock down the old tower and move everything into the new one.
"We're just delighted with the way the sport is thriving not only here in Dubbo, but right across the State."
GRNSW also this week began work at Muswellbrook with a new track surface, rail and lure being installed.
