When Sam Hangan suffered a knee injury, work became challenging.
The Armidale woman had been working in the childcare sector, but her injury meant she was facing a career change.
Now Ms Hangan, who credited TAFE NSW for helping her learn the practical skills needed to relaunch her career, is working in administration at the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority in Armidale.
Ms Hangan said she encourages others to consider a new career path in the growing industry.
According to the Federal Government's Job Outlook report, business administration jobs are in a steep growth phase nationally, with 231,500 workers expected to be employed in the field by next year.
Ms Hangan studied a Certificate II and III in Business Administration leading her to land employment as a senior administration officer at the APVMA.
"The Certificate III in Business Administration gives you great skills for any workplace you decide to go into," Ms Hangan said.
"I use many of the skills that I have learnt through my TAFE NSW studies in my day-to-day work, including developing corporate communications such as letters and excel spreadsheets, plus learning how to prioritise tasks and organise my time effectively.
"The supportive and experienced teachers at TAFE NSW along with the relaxed learning environment is what inspired me to keep going with my studies.
"I have gained so many skills and strength from the course as a person, to achieve my goals and I'd encourage others to consider learning new skills for a change of career at TAFE NSW."
TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Business Services Kelly Cook said the Certificate III was the minimum requirement for business administration roles in most local organisations.
"It really gives you some well-rounded skills that you can take anywhere," Ms Cook said.
"You're always employable if you have the Certificate III in Business Administration.
"Great administration, personal and executive assistants are highly sought after in nearly every industry."
