Saturday saw Armidale Jockey Club back at it after the winter break with seven races in a TAB2 meet.
Tamworth trainer Mel Dennett was the first in the winner's circle with Takanakuy taking out the 1100 metre Maiden Handicap.
Armidale's Stirling Osland finished runner-up in the second race - the 1400m Maiden Plate - with Wanda Beach.
Quirindi's Geoff O'Brien scored the win with Onyagame.
Jeremy Sylvester's trip from Cessnock was made worthwhile when Brooke Stower guided Harry and the Duke to a win in the 1900m Benchmark 50.
Armidale's Robert Knight scored second place with Rock Pearl.
Tamworth trainer Phillip Duffy won the Class 1 1400m with Billy Cray riding Talent Award to a narrow win.

Ben Looker got a surprise when Scott Singleton's Cheval Cat came past him without a rider in the 1100m Class 1 after Billy Cray was dislodged halfway around the track.
Cray was uninjured and Looker scored the win aboard Tony Newing's Loburn Lass.
Tamworth's Sue Grills wrapped things up with a win in the 1100m Benchmark 50 with Fudginit.
Armidale are set to race again this Sunday but at this stage no crowds are permitted.
