Both the NSW Government and NSW Health maps indicate one active case for the LGA, yet MP Adam Marshall has confirmed "it is an error".
Mr Marshall said someone who used to live in Inverell contracted the virus while living in Wilcannia.

"It's an Inverell resident who hasn't been in Inverell for some time, who contracted COVID-19 in Wilcannia, remains in Wilcannia, and will stay there until they are fully recovered," he told the Times.
"It's been mistakenly attributed presumably because that's the primary place of residence of that individual even though they haven't been in Inverell for a little while."
He said he was made aware of the case on Thursday, and made contact with NSW Health and the health minister's office asking to correct it on the website.
"Last week we had a similar thing with Gwydir Shire, where a case was mistakenly attributed for a very similar reason - they still had address saying they lived within the Gwydir Shire," Mr Marshall noted.
"Ideally it would be wonderful if [administrative errors] never happened - but I guess everyone that works in the system is trying to do the best they can. This has been identified, and hopefully it will be corrected now."
Hunter New England Health told the Times they are looking into the matter.
As of 9.30am Friday morning, the COVID case map still showed the one active case in the Inverell LGA.
Inverell's sewage results, shown on NSW Health sewage map, indicate the town was last tested on September 6 and came back in the all clear.
