A statement from Glen Innes Severn Council advised that routine weekly sampling of the Glen Innes Sewage returned a second positive result on Thursday morning.
The NSW Health sewage testing program detected fragments of the virus in Glen Innes last week.
This does not necessarily mean that there is a positive COVID-19 case in the Glen Innes community, the council advised.

However, as there have been two consecutive weeks of positive sewage testing, the council has urged residents to get COVID-19 testing done, even if they only have the mildest symptoms.
These symptoms may include, but are not limited to, any head cold or flu symptoms, such as a cough or sore throat, but also a general feeling of unwellness, unusual tiredness, nausea, and aches and pains.
"To ensure that a positive case does not go undetected, anyone with even the mildest symptoms should come forward for testing at the Glen Innes Hospital clinic. If in doubt, do the test," Mayor Carol Sparks said.
The drive-in clinic at Glen Innes Hospital is operating daily between 9am and 11am.
In addition, tests can be booked outside of those hours by calling the hospital directly on 6739 0293.
