It failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. That was terminated by police due to safety concerns a short time later. The vehicle was later located bogged on a travelling stock route.
With the assistance of local farmers who provided all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel-drives and a helicopter, police found the alleged driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle.
They were arrested and taken to the Moree Police Station. Both were charged with numerous offences, including a public health order offence.
The driver was refused bail and passenger given conditional bail to appear before Moree Local Court in November.
"We would like to thank our farmers who assisted in locating and arresting the offenders by providing the vehicles and aircraft to police," a police spokesperson said.
"The community spirit lives. Perhaps our friends at #PolAir may consider making the pilot an honorary member!"
