New England police have issued a harsh warning, saying they will continue their "zero tolerance" approach towards those breaking COVID-19 lockdown rules.

Acting Superintendent David Cooper said police had been receiving reports of parties and gatherings, activities that fly in the face of the current Public Health Orders.
"Police are receiving reports of parties and gatherings - we will continue with a zero tolerance and fines will be issued," he stated.

It was behaviour that was marring the COVID-compliance from the majority of those in the community willing to do the right thing.
"Throughout the district, police officers have seen good compliance by members of the community," he explained.
"The majority of offences relate to being away from home without a lawful reason and not wearing a mask."
Since the start of operation Stay At Home on August 16, the New England Police District has dealt out 255 Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) and 15 Court Attendance Notices.
"Importantly, the message is clear: follow the Public Health Order (PHO), stay at home and only go out for essential reasons, wear a mask and get vaccinated.
"If you display any symptoms - get tested."
