Armidale's COVID-19 outbreak started when two positive cases were reported last weekend, and stay at home orders came into force at 5pm on Saturday, August 7.
Last Sunday a third case was reported, followed by a fourth case on Friday, both from the same family as the first two cases.
The local lockdown extension comes as NSW had its worst day of the pandemic, with four deaths and 466 cases of community transmission.
Premier Berejiklian announced strengthened fines for people breaching COVID-19 rules, and a new regional travel permit system.
"Importantly for regional NSW, you will need a permit to go into regional NSW, whether you are in authorised worker, travelling to a second home because you might be a worker utilising a second home or inspecting real estate, you will need a permit, which will be effective from next Saturday," she said.
The premier flagged a likely expansion of lockdown restrictions in western NSW after an additional 26 cases were reported overnight in Dubbo and western NSW.
This weekend a walk-in vaccination hub opened for five hours at the UNE medical clinic, which saw long lines of residents come to receive their shot.
People started arriving at the vaccination hub at 7.30am on Saturday morning. It was due to open at 10am, but so many people there already, vaccinations started at 9am.
With the high demand, it's almost certain the hub will open again next Saturday, and it's likely to still be running the following weekend as well.
