Armidale Phyise Club trains at Minimbah Primary School, with its 80 to 100 members aged from 2 to 70 competing locally as well travelling to events around the state.
Armidale Physie Club associate Charlotte Williams said they are delighted to get the support from the #GreaterNewEngland community funding program.
"It's really exciting to receive it. We've always danced in leotards and recently they have released a new performance wear range which is leggings and tops," Charlotte said.
"This change has made it more open to women who prefer to not have so much of their body on show and can be a bit more reserved.
"This funding will allow us to buy our performance wear so we can compete as teams and our ladies and seniors can feel comfortable performing."
Charlotte said the club's normal fundraising activies have taken a real hit thanks to the COVID pandemic interrupting a number of events over the past 12 months.
"Normally we do the Freddo chocolate boxes and often have raffles throughout the year, which are quite successful, but we haven't been able to that for a while because of COVID. We didn't do the chocolate raffles obviously. So financially, we have been impacted.
"The funding is very timely for the club and we thank Greater Bank for making it possible. I feel honoured to be able to share this sport especially with up coming generations enabling them to become strong, confident women which are values that I have learnt from Physie," Charlotte said.
Greater Bank's Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Smith, said that local sporting groups like Armidale Physie Club are integral to the local community.
"Armidale Physie Club plays an important role in helping girls and women in the New England region develop their skils, fitness and confidence, as well as providing a forum for them to come together on a regular basis," Jennifer said.
"It's great for community spirit and it's very pleasing that #GreaterNewEngland funding can help the club maintain its activies throughout the year."
Voting for the August round of the #GreaterNewEngland funding program is now open with a share of $5000 up for grabs. The nominees are Centacare New England North West, Uralla & District Pony Club and Walhallow Public School P&C Breakfast Club.
- The public can cast their vote online at greater.com.au/greaternewengland or by visiting a Greater Bank branch. Voting closes at 5pm on Wednesday, September 1.
