Group 19, the New England Rugby Union and AFL North West have suspended matches.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Central North Rugby Union said it had postponed Saturday's first-grade clash between Barraba and Scone in Barraba due to the Hunter lockdowns.

It said all other games would go ahead.
However, the Express learned on Saturday morning that Saturday's first-grade clash between Quirindi and Walcha in Quirindi had also been postponed.
Initially, AFL North West announced on Saturday morning that it had suspended the men's minor semi-final between the Armidale-based New England Nomads and the Inverell Saints, which had been scheduled for No 1 Oval in Tamworth on Saturday.
It also postponed all finals games next weekend "until further notice".
However, later on Saturday morning it postponed all senior matches that day, on what was the first week of the finals.
Armidale will go into lockdown at 5pm on Saturday after a woman tested positive to COVID-19.
Group 19 suspended its round 14 matches after its board met on Friday night, while the NERU suspended its penultimate round.
In a statement, Group 19 said its response was in the best interests of "players' welfare and safety".
In a statement on Saturday morning, NERU competition manager Jason Wall said: "Due to the uncertainty regarding the current Covid situation in Armidale" the organisation's board suspended all round 14 matches.
He added: "The NERU Executive will await any official announcements from NSW Health and will meet to discuss options for the remainder of the season when the current situation becomes clearer.
"We would like to thank clubs for their cooperation regarding this matter."
Another casualty of NSW's COVID crisis are school-based soccer competitions the Bill Turner Cup and the Bill turner Trophy.
The national finals of the competitions had been scheduled for September 7-8, but have now been postponed.
In a statement released on Saturday morning, Lindsay Hewison - chairman of the Bill Turner School Football executive - said the alternative dates for the finals were October 26-27 and November 30/December 1.
He said: "Which ever way it turns out, schools need to be ready to play quickly and as often as possible, as soon as their lockdown is lifted."
On Saturday morning, it was announced that NSW had recorded 319 cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday - a record for the state. It had also recorded five deaths from the virus in that period.
The NSW premier, Gladys Berejiklian, conceded on Friday that the outbreak was showing no signs of relenting.
The Express reported on Friday that public health officials believed active cases of COVID-19 could be in Armidale, as higher levels of virus's fragments had been detected in sewage there.
NSW's chief health officer, Dr Kerry Chant, said: "The levels [of fragments] in sewage have become higher and we are concerned there may be active cases in Armidale."
