I read with amusement the story about the Anglican hierarchy in Armidale telling two married gay men that they were living in sin according to the Bible.
I well recall a similar Bishop of Armidale telling me through the Dean of the Cathedral that he had forbidden all priests in the diocese to give me the sacraments just over 30 years ago.
My sin was to be a homosexual who did not feel that men with AIDS returning to the country to die with their families were sinners. And, of course, I was not a sinner either.

For years I had sat in the Cathedral through badly constructed sermons whose poor grammar was only exceeded by their semi-itinerant theology.
I had hoped that the age of ill-educated bishops suited only for a world where the Bible was the A Class manual for bullies had passed. Armidale is in a time bubble of its own making.
