Baan Baa local Sarah Leete is an alt-country music artist herself, and knows all too well the limitations artists face in Armidale, Tamworth and surrounds.
In her position she will be working with venue owners, emerging artists and other members of the industry to rectify this.

"As an artist, I have performed in Armidale as part of the Live and Local event in 2018, and I have seen the vibrancy and talent from the region first hand,'Ms Leete said.
"I look forward to returning to Armidale in this new capacity, to work with the people and organisations in the region that are already doing such a great job, help make connections, and to breathe some new life into original music in Armidale and it's surrounding areas."
She's planning a networking event in Armidale to get the ball rolling and 'discuss the local climate'.
"We've got cover gigs at pubs happening, but we've got a wealth of people with talent that haven't had the opportunity to show their skill locally," Ms Leete said.
"They don't have a platform locally to express themselves. It's such a shame because they have to go away, do hard yards, and come back to an audience.
"There's some very exciting local younger bands coming up and I think it's important to give them a platform to develop their craft, they're really going to be the future of the industry."
Tamworth is centred around country music, but Sarah wants to expand this to other genres.
She's very excited about her new role and what she hopes to bring to the region.
"I am thrilled to be working with MusicNSW, and I bring more than seven years of experience working as an independent musician to this role, having toured locally, regionally, and interstate," she said.
"I hope to foster connections within the music community, and help local emerging talent to develop their material and performance skills. I am looking forward to working closely with artists and stakeholders to improve our original music scene."
Anyone who makes or works in music in the region is encouraged to join the MusicNSW: North West Facebook group, say hello to Ms Leete, and stay up-to-date with the industry.
