The dismissive responses of the education department and its Minister display the usual political smoke and mirrors approach to avoid accountability.
Unfilled permanent classroom teaching positions is the issue not the overall workforce vacancy rate. Limited or no access to casual teachers is the issue.
Solution? Address workload and wages.
Attracting and retaining qualified staff depends on the government offering attractive working conditions and a professional salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
