The man was killed in a single-vehicle accident at about 8am on Thursday.
Police were called to the scene on Guyra Road at Wongwibinda, about 54 kilometres east of Guyra.
The male driver lost control of his white Toyota landcruiser while travelling east, police believe.
Initial inquiries suggest the car crossed the roadway several times before rolling.
The man was later found dead near the vehicle.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway, police announced on Saturday.
A report into the man's death will be prepared for the coroner.
It's the third crash in the region in a week. A man was treated for injuries after a car crash in Tamworth on Monday morning.
The New England Highway was closed by a crash last Sunday morning.
The accident injured a 40-year-old man and a teenager.
