While the name sounds interesting it's got nothing to do with the colour of the refreshments being consumed.
Initially started by David Carr, the Director of Stringybark Ecological, the 'green drinks' evening is now organised by Sustainable Living Armidale as a networking and social event.

The aim of evening is to enable anyone who works or cares for the environment - including consultants, advocates, community members, government officers, researchers and horticulturalists - to meet each informally in a relaxed environment over a few drinks.
After the restrictions of 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, this year's gathering provided opportunities for networking, discussion and good humour that was enjoyed by the group.
The social event was held on Thursday, April 22, which coincided with Earth Day, which is held annually on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
In Armidale it was followed by 'Restore the Earth', a larger community event last Saturday.
