Residents of Armidale came out in force on Sunday to pay their respects at remembrance services across the region.

The day started at 4.45am with gunfire refreshments at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club, followed by a remembrance service for past members at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club.
More than 1000 attended the dawn service at Central Park, Armidale, but there was no march this year owing to COVID-19 restrictions.

At 6:30, there was a fellowship for veterans and service personnel at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club, followed by breakfast for veterans and service personnel.
A memorial service was held at Hillgrove at 8am and another at Dangarsleigh Memorial at 8.45am.
Veterans took part in an Anzac Day march and were accompanied by the Guard, Armidale City Band, and Flag bearers.
COVID-19 restrictions stopped others from participating in the march this year; however, schools played an important part throughout the main commemoration service in Central Park at 11am.
Groups and individuals were invited to participate in the wreath-laying service, and 1500 people attended the event.
Afterwards, an invitation-only luncheon was held at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club for veterans, family, and friends.
Armidale RSL president Max Tavener OAM said attendance levels were higher than previous years following a hiatus last year during the Coronavirus pandemic.
