Jockey Jodi Worley and trainer Paul Grills teamed up once again for the win with the five-year-old gelding making it to the line in the nick of time, edging in front by a whisker with a dead heat for second.
Worley, who rides trackwork for the Black Mountain-based trainer in Glen Innes, told Sky Racing after the event she expected he'd go close to winning with an inside barrier.
"He just got beat here last time around in 1100 which was a massive run," she said after the 1300 metre Benchmark 58.
"I knew he drew a gate that was just a little bit closer and he needed a bit of luck down here."
Grills was the only local who scored a win on the day with the rest all travellers.
