A MAN accused of firing an unregistered gun in the street during an argument in the New England will remain behind bars until next month.

Joshua James Berryman is charged with shooting a firearm during the daylight confrontation on Monday morning, near Tenterfield.
In Armidale Local Court on Tuesday, 41-year-old Berryman was not required to enter pleas to the five firearm-related charges.
He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment if found guilty of firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property.

He's also accused of three counts of a possessing an unregistered firearm; and using, supplying, acquiring or possessing a defaced gun.
Berryman made no application for bail in court and it was formally refused by magistrate Jennifer Atkinson
Ms Atkinson ordered Berryman into custody, where he will remain until the case returns to court next month.
He was arrested at Liston, near Tenterfield on Monday.
Police were called to Stanthorpe Street in Liston at about 11am on Monday after reports shots had been fired in the street.
It's the police case that two residents in the street were arguing when one of the men produced a firearm and fired two shots.
No one was injured in the confrontation and the man fled the scene before police were alerted.
Officers setup a crime scene in the street which was forensically examined by specialist investigators.
About midday, officers tracked a 41-year-old man to the town and he was arrested and later charged at Tenterfield Police Station.
