A MAN is in custody, accused of firing shots during a daylight confrontation in a street in the New England.

The 41-year-old is facing a raft of offences after he was arrested at Liston, near Tenterfield on Monday.
Police were called to Stanthorpe Street in Liston at about 11am on Monday after reports shots had been fired in the street.
It's the police case that two residents in the street were arguing when one of the men produced a firearm and fired two shots.

No one was injured in the confrontation and the man fled the scene before police were alerted.
Officers setup a crime scene in the street which was forensically examined by specialist investigators.
About midday, officers tracked a 41-year-old man to the town and he was arrested.
He was taken to Tenterfield Police Station before he was questioned and later charged with firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property; three counts of a possessing a firearm; and using, supplying, acquiring or possessing a defaced gun.
The man was denied bail by police and spent the night in custody.
He will front Armidale Local Court on Tuesday for a bail application.
