The annual Tour de Cure stopped off in Tamworth on Sunday, before heading towards Armidale on Monday, peddling their hearts out to raise money for cancer research
For Dean Ellison, the highlight was leading the group into his town of Tamworth.
"It was a big day on Sunday, and it was a bit of a challenge up the [Great Dividing] Range, but we all got there," he told the Express.
"It's been pretty amazing, there has been some pretty cool stories [from riders] on why they do it."
Already they've cycled close to 430km from Newcastle to Tamworth, including Sunday's epic 180km trek from Muswellbrook to Tamworth.
On Monday, the 130-strong group including support crew set off from Tamworth, and headed straight up the New England Highway to Bendemeer, Walcha Road, Kentucky and Gostwyck. Armidale is the final destination for day four.
"Hydration is key", and there is plenty of climbing. On Monday alone, the riders will notch up 2070m in elevation on the bike on the 156km-stretch.
On Tuesday, the riders will pedal from Armidale to Glen Innes, then onto Grafton before they finish in Coffs Harbour on Thursday.
After the final stop, they will have clocked up 952km on the bike with 11,882m of climbing. No easy feat, for even the most seasoned rider.
Already the fundraising ride has raised $5.3 million this year alone.
