Lachlan Paul Soper-Lagas, 18, is one of three men charged over the death of Cian English, 19, who fell from the fourth storey of the View Pacific resort in Surfers Paradise in March 2020.

A passer-by discovered Mr English's body at the bottom of the resort, with police alleging he was trying to escape being robbed by the three men at knifepoint when he fell to his death.

The accused trio had invited Mr English and a friend, who were staying in the building, to party with them in their apartment in the hours before the incident.

Mobile phone footage captured by two females at the unit showed Soper-Lagas holding a knife during the "protracted episode" that involved assaults, threats and demands for clothing.

Mr English allegedly "jumped or climbed" over the railing before he fell to his death.

The court was told Soper-Lagas's history of drug use began at age 12, involving cannabis, methamphetamine, ice and prescription drugs.

After Mr English plunged to his death, Soper-Lagas did not call emergency services or check on his welfare but fled the scene before being arrested that night, the court was told.

Justice Anthony Rafter said the teen did not have a criminal history and ordered he submit to random drug testing and undergo drug rehabilitation, when granting bail in the Queensland Supreme Court on Thursday.

Soper-Lagas's grandparents offered their property as a $100,000 surety for their grandson's freedom.

The charges for all three men will return to court in March for a committal mention.
