After almost eight months on the run from Glen Innes prison, one man has again tried to flee police as they closed in on him in an early morning capture.
However the 44-year-old's attempted escape was no match for a dog unit, who closed in on him at a house in Windsor on Monday.
The man escaped the minimum-security facility on the Gwydir Highway last May, and despite investigations from New England police, couldn't be found.
After extensive investigations, officers from Hawksbury Police Area Command, alongside the dog unit, pinpointed the man to the home on New Street.
At about 5am, the officers made their move.
Despite running out the back of the house on foot, the man was arrested.
Two outstanding warrants were executed back at the Windsor Police Station, for his escape from lawful custody and for stealing a motor vehicle.
He was refused bail and will front court at a later date.
