After three years of what was described as the worst drought in living memory, 2020 ended up being Armidale's wettest year in 23 years of records. The town received 141 percent of its average annual total.
A total of 1063.4 millimetres of rain fell from the heavens last year, smashing the annual average of 756.8 millimetres and the last record year when 1060.4 millimetres fell in 2011.
December was the wettest, with a total of 256.8mm falling throughout the month .

Only a measly 315.2mm fell in 2019, a total Armidale reached before the end of February last year, thanks to some heavy downpours and big storms in January and February.
Temperatures in New South Wales in 2020 were generally above average except in the southwest and Armidale also recorded its highest daily minimum temperature of 21 degrees on February 2, which was just slightly more than the former highest recorded daily minimum temperature in 24 years of 20.7 degrees on November 30, 1997.
Armidale's highest mean daily minimum temperature for 2020 was 7.1 on par with the previous record year in 1998.
The wet weather looks set to continue this year, with above average rainfall predicted over the coming months as the La Nina remains active until at least the start of autumn.
Already this year, Armidale has recorded 31.4mm, with the past few weeks being wet.
