Fast forward a year and the racecourse has the opposite problem.
A deluge of downpours has seen Tuesday's meet, which was transferred Tamworth, postponed.
Armidale Jockey Club's secretary-manager Jim Dedes said although they have initially issued a postponement, it is more likely to be abandoned altogether.
"They want to know whether we could race here on Thursday which is still extremely doubtful so I think they are just going to abandon it," he said.

"It is just a matter of finding another date.
"Lismore is racing today and they were transferred from Friday to today [Tuesday] and they have a heavy track and they have six horse races and three horse races.
"They are just not worth it.
"They just put a postponement on it until they decide what to do."
Although it has been called off for now, Dedes said the reasoning is a welcome change compared to this time last year.
"We were getting them called of because it was too bloody dry and now it is too wet," he said.
"But everyone is welcoming the rain."
Armidale is scheduled to hold their next meet on January 25.
