Jaincong Zheng faces five charges after police raided the stall he was operating at the field days on August 22, 2019.

Zheng is charged with carrying on the activities of a firearms dealer without being licensed; possessing an unauthorised pistol; and three counts of possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm.

Magistrate Peter Thompson has fixed the case for hearing, after the defence confirmed it would fight the allegations.

Mr Thompson ordered the defence to file its expert statement and two videos by mid-January. Police have also been ordered to file its expert statements before the end of January. The case will be heard in early-May in Gunnedah Local Court.

Zheng remains on bail.

He was initially facing more charges but some have since been withdrawn.

Zheng had been working at the three-day event in Gunnedah and was arrested at the AgQuip stall on the morning of August 22, after a tip-off to police.

At the time, Oxley police seized what they claimed were 106 replica firearms, which they allege are prohibited items.

After Zheng's arrest, police had alleged the replicas - 45 pistols, 18 air pistols, 42 sub machine guns and one assault rifle - were being offered for sale. The officers seized all of them and more than $5000 in cash.

Zheng remains on conditional bail. He was granted bail in Tamworth Local Court a day after his Gunnedah arrest. He was bailed to live in Sydney, among other conditions.
