Golf memberships in NSW have seen a dramatic increase this year and Armidale is no different.
Armidale Golf Club's memberships have risen by 39 per cent this year with regional NSW up 4.2 per cent.
The club has had more than 100 people sign up for full memberships but there's also been a rise in social golf and junior numbers as well.
"It is a bit of a snowball effect; once you get a few people hooked it is a habit game," Armidale Golf Club's secretary-manager Rhys Porter said.
"Once people try it, they get hooked on golf. I think a certain percentage has been certainly helped by restrictions the fact golf was of the few things that could still be played. And then the flow-on effect."
The club is also aiming to build up junior numbers further.
Free junior clinics are already held but there are plans to make the sport even more attractive to younger participants.
"We are really trying to build on our junior program," Porter said.
"That is something the new board and the new club captain are going to be pushing.

"We are looking at new programs to provide junior sets for as young as three-to-five and eight-to-10-year-olds.
Hopefully we can provide some clubs and equipment juniors can use free of charge to try the game and get into it."
Porter also said university students have been turning up in droves and signing up for memberships.
"It has been both the community and the university students have really got involved," he said.
"We areooking forward to having the students back here and looking at doing some student engagement or student competitions."
The challenge now is "continuing the momentum" and maintaining those memberships.
Off the course, Porter said the new menus and improvements in dining go hand-in-hand with increasing memberships out on course.
"It is just a great opportunity for people to come out and have a corporate lunch, or a family lunch, and then go out and play nine holes and grab a buggy after as well," he said.
