In June he arrived as intirim administrator, and he departs six months later with some encourging words for our region.
On Friday our senior journalist Vanessa Arundale interviewed Viv on his last day in the job and he spoke enthusiastically about the delights of country living and the natural beauty of the area.
Regarding what's happening inside the council, we have published in full Viv's final address to the council. You can read it here.
Meanwhile, the other intirim council leader - general manager John Rayner - will be hanging around a little longer.
