The Group Six unit from the DPP, which handles matters involving officers charged with offences, prosecuted the case after Senior Constable Vogel was charged in August, 2019.
The Professional Standards Command had charged the officer following a lengthy investigation. It was sparked after the incident was referred to senior New England police.
It had been alleged the senior constable had assaulted a 14-year-old boy in Inverell on December 27, 2018, while on duty during an arrest in Evans Street.
Vogel, who is a serving New England officer, had maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty in the local court in November, last year.
