Funding is being provided as part of the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF), which helps councils promote community well-being, social and future disaster resilience.
MP Barnaby Joyce said that the Armidale Regional Council will receive a $250,000 payment under BCRRF Stream 1, supporting a range of great local projects.
Armidale's payment will fund a range of community events and activities, a community grants program and provide support for local clubs to secure prominent events.
Glen Innes Severn Council will also receive a payment of $250,000 under this program to deliver a Wytaliba anniversary event, Fire and Seasons Calendar, and community grants program among other measures.
"With half a million dollars in added resilience funding going to Armidale and Glen Innes we are delivering further outcomes as recognition of the trials and tragedy from the recent fires," Mr Joyce said.
"As well as community events, I hope we have the capacity for some projects that will stand as testament to this formidable period."
